What are Mamas saying?

I highly recommend this class for any momma. The environment is one filled with kindness, support, understanding and grace for whatever arises. It gave me confidence and patience with myself and my baby, as well as incredibly special moments to bond together, and alongside other mommas in their journeys.” – Lauren

“Anne’s class was so gentle, poetic and amazing thank you.” – Allison

“Anne is an incredibly knowledgeable yoga teacher, especially for prenatal and postpartum mothers looking to maintain their practice. She not only provides deep emotional support, but rich physical support as well – clearly communicating the anatomical aspects of the pre- and post-birth body and how specific postures and practices can provide immediate and lasting benefits. As a new mama myself, I can say with full certainty my pregnancy experience was immensely more enjoyable and supported because of Anne. I can’t wait to keep working with her and would recommend her services to anyone – especially expecting and new mamas!” -Josie

Common Questions

How old should my baby be? For my New Mom Yoga class, babies are welcome from birth up to approximately one year old.

When are they too young or too old?
Too Young: this is a matter of the mother. When she feels she is ready to venture out of the home after having her baby, she is welcome in class. Often my class is the first solo outing mama does with her baby. It is a safe space for all things baby, like a “new mom group” but with yoga. No “one size fits all”, I ALWAYS offer mamas guidance on what is appropriate for their body based on how many weeks they are postpartum.

Too Old: When Baby becomes Highly Mobile. Generally between 9 – 13 months, babies become interested in their world. When they are able to maneuver themselves quickly away from Mom, and prefer to explore the room, the stress of constantly corralling them outweighs the benefits of class. On other words, Mom, it’s your decision, and you’ll know when it’s time =)

What if my baby cries, wants to feed, or be held? CONGRATULATIONS! You have a baby! My only concern would be if Baby doesn’t do those things. All things baby and new mom are welcome. Caring for yourself and baby IS yoga. Returning to movement, strength, stretch, and mindfulness IS yoga. Doing all those things at once… IS YOGA.
Come as you are and be held in your community of moms.

What should I bring? Anything baby or yourself will need for the duration of class. Your yoga mat is your space where everything may occur: feed baby, change baby, hold baby, etc. You are also welcome to leave the room if Baby (or you) need to step away.

Items I recommend: Blanket for baby to lay upon, diaper bag, feeding supplies, toys, your yoga mat (I do have a few to lend if you forget), and whatever else you may need except the kitchen sink (because we have one).
